Privacy Policy

Private by design. We don't track you, we don't show ads, and we don't run third-party analytics. We collect only what the app needs to work.
The short version. LiveView is a companion that lets your iPhone see and control your own Mac. Your terminals, screen, voice and files stay between your devices and the connection method you choose. The only data tied to you is your account email, your device identity, and — when you're signed in — the text of your conversations and your settings, used purely to make the app work across your devices.
Who we are
LiveView is made by TheCosmicApp ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, contact hello@thecosmicapp.com. We are the data controller for the limited data described below.
What we collect
- Account email address — when you sign in (via the shared Cosmic account / Supabase authentication, including Google or Apple Sign-In). Used to identify your account and unlock your subscription across your devices.
- Device identity — a device identifier and the name you give a paired Mac, so the app can connect the right phone to the right computer and enforce device-based access.
- Subscription status — whether your plan is active. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store (in-app purchase); we receive only whether your subscription is active, and never see or store your card details.
- Conversation history — when you're signed in, the text of your prompts and the replies, plus any tags you add, are synced to your account so your history appears on your other devices. The audio of spoken replies never leaves your device. You can delete individual entries or your whole history at any time in the app.
- Your settings — your custom prompts and voice command words, synced to your account so they follow you across your devices.
That's all. We do not collect your contacts, location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
Microphone & voice
When you use voice control, your speech is transcribed to text so it can be typed into your Mac's active terminal. The transcription runs on your Mac (Whisper) or, as a fallback, uses Apple's speech recognition on your iPhone — in which case it is subject to Apple's privacy terms. Voice is processed for that purpose only and is not stored to build a profile of you. The spoken replies you hear are generated entirely on your device, and that audio never leaves it.
Camera
The camera is used only if you scan a QR code to pair a Mac. No photos are taken or stored.
How your devices connect
You choose how your iPhone reaches your Mac: your home Wi-Fi, your own Tailscale network (encrypted end-to-end), or our optional encrypted cloud relay (Pro). The relay passes encrypted traffic between your devices to make the connection work on any network; it is not used to read or retain your content.
LiveView asks for Local Network access so your iPhone can reach your Mac directly on your home network — the faster, fully private path that never leaves your home.
Screen pixels, keystrokes and voice flow through the path you choose; the relay is a dumb pipe that does not inspect, decrypt or store your content. To make a connection work, our relay may process limited technical metadata — an IP address, a temporary room/device identifier and connection timestamps — kept briefly for reliability and abuse-prevention, never to profile you.
Security
- Authentication keys and tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain.
- Face ID can lock the app on your device.
- Access is device-based; pairing requires your explicit action.
Tracking, ads, analytics
None. We do not track you across apps or websites, we show no advertising, and we use no third-party analytics SDKs. (See our App Store privacy label for the same declaration.)
Data sharing & processors
We don't sell your data. We rely on a small number of processors strictly to run the service:
- Supabase (self-hosted by us) — account authentication and subscription/licence records.
- Apple — sells and processes your subscription through the App Store (Apple's privacy terms apply to payment data).
How long we keep it
We keep your account and subscription data while your account exists. Synced conversation text, tags and settings are kept while your account is active — you can delete individual conversations or wipe your history in the app at any time. When you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with it, except where we must retain limited records (e.g. payment/tax records) by law.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@thecosmicapp.com. You can delete your LiveView data (your conversations, settings and sessions) from within the app, under Settings → Legal & About → Delete my data. Your sign-in account is shared with other Cosmic apps, so it is not removed by LiveView — to delete that shared account entirely, contact us and we will erase it across the ecosystem. You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
LiveView is not directed at children and is intended for general audiences (developers and Mac users).
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll change the date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
